“Il Puro Casanova” is a celebration of authenticity, born in the heart of Chianti Classico. The vineyard of Casanova lies at 1,470 feet on the sun-drenched southern slopes of Volpaia, between the famed vineyards of Coltassala and Balifico. Here, Volpaia has embraced a visionary project: cultivating 25 indigenous clones of Sangiovese, carefully reproduced from vines more than 60 years old. This commitment preserves the genetic heritage of Volpaia while creating a wine of rare individuality.
The first vintage, 2006, marked the debut of “Il Puro” and introduced a new icon to the world: 100% Sangiovese, 100% indigenous clones, 100% organic, 100% Chianti Classico, and produced with zero CO₂ emissions. Every element reflects purity, from the vineyard to the cellar, offering a wine that embodies the essence of its terroir.
